Quintal da Mooca is run by two ex-waiters, people very able, very experienced in the bar business, so much that they’ve decided to open their own place. I found it when I discovered they had won a competition as best “boteco” (bar) in the “good and cheap” category.
My husband and I decided to go there for the first time on a rainy Wednesday evening. Mooca neighborhood has those narrow, dark and rocky streets, as some cities in Europe, so when we got there we were gratefully surprised by a very cheerful and cozy atmosphere.
It’s a very pleasant place to be, the disposition of tables is fine, it has a very nice corridor full of plants, cool decoration and the food is very well made – like the typical Northeast Brazilian jerk beef, something I can’t stand anymore, but there I just had to eat it, is so good.
I drink the beers that are specialties of the house and also their exclusive caipirinha. You have fun there and feel that everyone is also having fun, it’s a special vibe.
The owner takes care personally of the bar, the tables, gives his attention to every customer – he’s the kind of who likes what he does. If you enjoy botecos, you’ll be delighted by Quintal da Mooca.
