A bar with that proper bar feel, where I can go in and out by foot whenever I want is Boca de Ouro - at Cônego Eugênio Leite street, a corner of Pinheiros neighborhood where the bohemian lifestyle of São Paulo is well represented.
The atmosphere with the dim lights, the setting with postered walls, the nice indie rock in the background and the amazing bite-size bar food are for me a reference in adult enjoyment.
It’s not a place visited much by the young people of São Paulo and it won’t make you feel like a grandma either – people in their 30s and 40s use to hang out there.
The one thing that makes me come back all the time is the good beer variety, specially Vedett, a Belgian clear beer that is divine and tastes like it’s seasoned with some salt, pepper and olive oil. A delight – and not too expensive!
Regarding the foods, I recommend bolovo. That’s a classic São Paulo “boteco” food shaped like a meat ball with a whole boiled egg inside – but Boca de Ouro takes it to a whole other level, just delicious.
Another nice thing is that I have a lot of friends who don’t eat meat and when I’m also not too in the mood for meat, they have vegetarian snacks that are just as tasty.
